Adventure Backpack

First off, let me just say that there is really no "go to" adventure back pack. It will really depend on age, interest, and even location. Our adventure backpack always has a few "essential" items and then in addition and depending on how long the trip we plan or where we are we add a few extras.

Our back pack has three layers of pockets.
  1. The first picture is closed.
  2. The second picture is a small front pocket that we use for wet wipes and a few diapers.
  3. The third picture is the medium size pocket which holds various items including extra notebooks, pens, headbands and hair ties (for mom), and random items.
  4. The last pocket which is the biggest pocket holds the clipboard and the rest of our adventure materials. We do use the side pockets for water bottles or the "adventure phone."

We like to bring various ways to draw or capture anything the boys find interesting on our adventures. We bring this handy zipper pocket that has a spot for crayons and a slot for a notebook. We got most of this in the "dollar section" of Target! All of the items that are in the adventure bag can be found around the house, dollar store, Amazon, Walmart, or Target.

Here are a few of our favorite things to bring in our "adventure" book bag:

  • binoculars (we actually bought them good ones for Christmas), but pictured above are ones we bought in bulk for our family trip to a cabin during the summer.
  • zip lock baggies (for collecting specimens, or in other words cool looking things!)
  • markers (washable!)
  • pencils
  • waterproof clipboard (we have scavenger hunts and a print outs of the park maps in here)
  • snacks (hey, I am traveling with hungry little vacuums!!)

MOST IMPORTANTLY:
  • PARK PASSPORT

Works great!
