it's all about the trees

One of the things I have always found fascinating is trees. Yes, it is acceptable to eye roll here, it sounds silly.

When I think of c o o l trees, it reminds me of a girls trip we took to Florida many years ago. The group we went with was family and we were right on the beach. It was amazing, so much fun and one of the things I remember was being so WOW'ed over the fact that Florida has so many cool and interesting trees.

Reminds me of this quote, "Be the weed growing through the cracks in the cement, beautiful - because it doesn't know it's not supposed to grow there," written by Shane Koyczan.

This quote resonates like the trees pictured here (left). We all grow up... different.

Some in a straight path, others crooked, some have to go through cement and others are nurtured in a garden.

The trees that I saw in Florida simply float like a stick in the water until they find a home and eventually form their own little land mass that used to just be sticks floating in the water.

I don't want to go too wild there with that thought, but really the trees that go through so much change in their life, whether that change was good or bad, hard to handle or easy, end up being the most beautiful trees

One of the things that we plan on doing sooner or later, its on our bucket list, is tree watching. It sounds silly, and truthfully with two toddlers it might not turn out the way I imagine. We will take our adventure guides and find a place on the path.

We will learn that BROADLEAF trees are on of two groups of trees. Broadleaf trees have leaves that change color or drop off in the winter. The seeds grows inside fruits, nuts, berries, or pods.

While an EVERGREEN tree or conifer tree have needles that stay green all year. The seeds grow inside cones that grow on the tree.

The challenge will be to find each type of tree and... DRAW it. Find a leaf and do a leaf drawing. Learn a new letter or word and describe it. I love learning and I love making learning adventurous, fun, and creative.

Who knows, it might not turn out the way I want, but does everything in life? Next time you see a tree and it is growing around a fence or is standing almost horizontal off a cliff, think about it! They are dealing with life in the only way they know how and thriving.
