Cove Spring Park and Nature Preserve - Kentucky

Cove Spring Park and Nature Preserve (official tourist spot) was a stop while we were driving around Kentucky. So, while we originally thought this was a State Park... which it is not officially. It ended up being our first park we got to experience a waterfall!! Both of the boys LOVE water, anything to do with water, and we have made "waterfalls" before, but to see one is a different experience.

Here is a few ideas for waterfall crafts at home if you have these laying around or go make a short run to the dollar store or target. You need materials like duct tape or drill, water bottles, and scissors or a utility knife or box cutter.

2. Bamboo Waterfall (This one probably requires a trip to a store!)

The boys also made another discover on this park adventure - a NEW color caterpillar.

Earlier in a post we discovered and did a little research after finding a WHITE caterpillar. This one, however was ALL black! Here is our best guess for identification: Giant Leopard Moth Caterpillar

The reason it is a guess and not a guarentee is because we left this little guy alone. When he curls up we predict that he would have red bands and look like the official name: Giant Leopard Moth Caterpillar and we learned that allow he does look soft and fuzzy their spines are sharp and needle-like.

If you did want to visit a Kentucky State Park, their website is very easy to navigate and offer plenty of maps to get around any of the parks listed. Cove Spring Park is "approximately 240 acres of wetlands, streams, springs, waterfalls, forested ravines and other natural and historic features." It is also less than 10 minutes away from Buffalo Trace Distillery, in case you were wondering.

We love our #guentheradventures. I wonder what we will discover next!
