Snow is one of the best reasons to live in Ohio. Most television shows or movies usually make fun of Ohio, Cleveland, or... anything to do with Ohio, but Ohio has one great thing:
seasons.
You like snow, Ohio has it.
You like rain, Ohio has that too.
You like humidity, sunshine, or sunny weather, you got it. You like "fall" and "spring" weather where the air is crisp? Ohio has the ability to give that ALL to you!
Come and enjoy Ohio. That is definitely one of the reasons I like my home state. I don't have a true favorite season because I like that the seasons change. I like that we can get snow, rain, sunshine, and more throughout the year and even in the same week or day. That is the beauty of Ohio.
According to OhioDNR Buck Creek State Park has some interesting natural features, "The natural features of the region can be attributed to the effects of glaciers which receded from Ohio more than 12,000 years ago. Low hills, called moraines, can be seen in the area where glaciers halted for extended periods of time and left deposits of gravel and sand. Old river valleys were filled by these deposits where numerous springs now well up through the sand and gravel. The nearby city of Springfield is named for the many springs seeping up from the broad meadows. The springs account for the many bogs and fens in Clark and Champaign counties, of which Cedar Bog is probably the best known."
Lakeview Trail is the trail we picked this round at Buck Creek State Park. When we trekked this area last time we spent time exploring by the dam and the visitor center. There is a big field over there that is popular in the summer for different events. It had a nice trail that led through the woods, I believe it was called Stone Trail, or something with rock in the name. I will have to look it up again! (It was a Stone's Throw Trail. I was so close)
Guess what this trail had? TONS of access to the lake.
Who would have guessed that Lakeview Trail had views of the lake!?
The boys loved it, after finding several spots that had lots of snow for snowball fights and snow angels (I think we made dozens), we took one of the access paths. This path in the snow ended up like a small slide, which we slid down to reach the rocky beach. Instead of spending time hiking, we spent a lot of time throwing rocks into the lake. We spent even more time throwing ice and snow into the lake.
E wants to know why it doesn't melt and instead the snowball turns into a small ice ball?
Snowball Fight #76
Snow Angel #23
The boys really enjoyed their time outside and in the snow. We can't wait to venture back here again, we drove around and wrote down our "ideal" camping spaces for views of access to the trails. We can't wait for more future #guentheradventures
