The #52hikechallenge of 2021

Along with the #1000hourschallenge our family is also taking on the #52hikechallenge which is overlapping anyway. As of February 13, which is today we are right on track and feeling pretty good about how many hours we have been able to get outside and hike within the good ol' state of Ohio.

Has it been easy? No, no not easy. Winter, children, and gloves have been an everlasting gobstopper of a problem that has proven to be… challenging. We’ve been battling exhaustion that follows poor eating habits and started a remedy... aka eating healthier. I mean, we do our best to be laid back but if I hear the words "Ahh my glove, mom help me!" One more time, it could break me.

Now, an update to the gloves shenanigans mommy ended up spending way more than I ever thought I would spend on gloves and they have been 100% worth it. They stay on and no amount of snowball, snow-angels, sledding and falling in snow took these gloves off the hands of babes.

Highly *5 star* recommend these to parents children 4 and under.

What is the #52hikechallenge?

The easiest way to explain it is that it allows me to post all of our family hiking selfies for a reason!

Okay, but really, “52 HIKE CHALLENGE IS A GLOBAL MOVEMENT EMPOWERING YOU TO TAKE A PERSONAL JOURNEY TO DISCOVER THE PHYSICAL, MENTAL, EMOTIONAL, AND SPIRITUAL BENEFITS GAINED THROUGH HIKING ONCE A WEEK FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR.”

Read here to learn more about the 52 Hike Challenge on their website.

But just for the same reason I have a "work out" buddy it is about accountability. We all know when it is cold outside we can come up with a thousand and one reasons to stay inside. This challenge combined with our #1000hoursoutside challenge gives us accountability to get ourselves outside and moving. We know we love to go outside. We know we enjoy hiking, but weather does make that a little harder and life does get crazy.

Also... I get to post our selfies.
