Little Boots Hiking List

Little Boots Hiking Club has been an amazing experience for not only my family, but hopefully others. We were given a chance to meet other families with kids, some older and some younger, that have a similar interest: HIKING!

We wanted to share out statistics and some of our recent hikes that we have taken. It has always been something I have enjoyed is planning a trip and going somewhere new. Thankfully, I found a husband that will put up with all my "go go go" and helps me "slow and enjoy" the time around me as well.

Little Boots Hiking Club (Cincinnati, Ohio) has had a big year already...

Stonelick State Park (Clermont County)

Carter Park (Hamilton County)

Blue Ash Nature Park (Hamilton County)

East Fork Lake State Park (Clermont County)

Miami Whitewater (Butler County)

Rentchler Forest Reserve (Butler County)

Veterans Park (Anderson County)

Story Woods Park (Hamilton County)

Arc of Appalachia (Highland County)

Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden (Hamilton County)

Most recently we found a new fun spot, and you could spend days and weeks exploring the hikes available. This beautiful place is called Arc of Appalachia and they are in between two state parks that we have visited before. We hiked on the Arch Trail and were able to see cave type breaks in the rock, arches, and some interesting looking insects. We were also able to hike with friends and another awesome Hiking Leader!

The view of a trail in the woods always puts a smile on my face and I wanted to share the beauty with you.

B is still learning his limits and after grabbing onto a thorny branch he got to take a ride for the rest of the trail. Also, every good hiking trail with kids has to have at least ONE if not two bridges to cross over. We love learning the different styles of bridges and what we get to walk over.

Shout out to Shiloh - my fellow hiking leader - and getting to hike with her in person. We were able to talk hiking and how she got involved in Cincinnati Hikes. Last, but not least the kids made a rock pyramid in the driveway before we left. It was a home for the ants.

Our second recommendation made from the Little Boots Hiking Club is Story Woods Park and trail A (for creeking) and B for a short walk with exercise stops. One of our favorite parts of the hikes besides seeing a million butterflies and spiders this time, is making new friends and getting to know them. One of the butterflies like Z so much that it kept landing on him, it was fun!

Long story short, we are still not a fan of cicadas. Luckily, this 'brood' will not be back for 17 years. It was nice learning and listening to you, but it will be nice to enjoy outside in a relaxing way again.

Our last honorable mention on our Little Boots Hiking List is Fern Hill Trail at East Fork State Park. We went with a group and while we got lost in the middle, we missed an immediate left, we were able to explore and experience things we may have missed otherwise.

For instance... falling down a muddy hill, climbing over OR under a tree to avoid falling down a muddy hill, and seeing a creek full of different plants. It was a true adventure!

Starting off on our journey we went up and down hills... we saw spiders and evidence of White Tailed Deer. We got to talk about mushrooms and fungi (he is a fun guy!)

The trail was blocked by a GIANT tree... well we think it was back on the trail! We were able to work as a team and hand the kids over the trunk while the adults took turns on their own. Marcus discovered on this hike and TREKKING POLES are 100% WORTH the purchase!

All good adventures have a little heart in them.

And... there was a beach! The kids were able to play in the sand and water after the hike and was a fun way to cool down for adults too! The Little Boots Hiking Club are not slowing down anytime soon and we will be going to:

Hocking Hills (Hocking County)

Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve (Butler County)

Miami Whitewater (Butler County)

I can't wait to share more adventures from #guentheradventures and #littlebootshikingclub!
