Quail Hollow State Park

*Phone Rings*

Me: Hello?

Mom: Hey, dad and I want to know if you wanted to take a day trip up to see the family and go to your cousin's graduation.

Me: When is it?

Mom: *says a date*

Me: Yup, we'd love to go.

Road trips are in my DNA.  I can pack a car like I’m playing luggage Tetris.  I know all the fun things to do in the car to keep two toddlers calm and entertained without resorting to technology.

I can look up and see where and when we should stop for food or have enough provisions packed that we never have to stop. One APP that I am glad exists is called "Playground Buddy." You can search by location or type in a city and find a park nearby. You can also type in the different type of playground equipment if you are looking for something special like a "zip line" or a "hiking trail."

I have travel activities tucked away and hidden throughout the car for various scenarios, extra clothes and socks (toddlers), and a travel picture scavenger hunt ready to play as soon as we leave the gas station.

Quail Hollow is sitting at about 701-acres and has quite a bit of trails for hiking. Since this was a quick stop to take a break from driving on our road trip we weren't able to do any of them, but I would quickly add them all to my list. In addition, there is equestrian and mountain biking trails.

If this park was closer I guarantee we would be going often because the trails are good skill builder lengths for our kids. See the list below:

Coniferous Forest Trail - 1.25 Miles - easy
Deciduous Forest Trail - 1.25 Miles - easy
Nature For All Trail - 1/2  Mile - easy
Woodland Swamp Trail - 1.5 Miles - easy
Peatland Trail - 3/4 Mile - easy
Tall-Grass Prairie Trail - 1/4 Mile - easy
Meadowlands Trail - 1.5 Miles - easy
Beaver Lodge Trail - 1.5 Miles - easy

We have a park closer to home - Stonelick State Park - that has similar length in trails and we visit it often. It is one of our favorite places to go and hike at on our #guentheradventures
