"Ribbit The Exhibit" at The Dawes Arboretum
Ribbit the Exhibit was merely the excuse for us to visit friends from east of Columbus, Ohio where Dawe's Arboretum is located. The day was on the warmer side, but we more than enjoyed our time and wished that Dawe's was closer to our house. I have only heard good things about it and we were excited to get the chance to experience it as well.
I attached photos of our favorite frogs. In order from favorite frog to still awesome frogs...
1. Banjo Buddies
2. Digging in the Dirt
3. Leap Frogs
4. I Spy Frog
I added a final favorite of mine at the end of this post, but these were the boys top four. We all loved the Frog Mower as well, but I seem to have accidentally deleted the photo of that frog. The exhibit website said, "24 whimsical frog sculptures will delight visitors along the Parkwoods Trail, in the Japanese Garden and the Learning Garden. The exhibit features frogs dancing the tango, playing leapfrog, working in the garden and more. This unique exhibit will be on display through September 14, 2021."
A few features of this arboretum that we explored is the storybook walk, we couldn't resist, as well as the nature playscape. E wouldn't give me anything but a silly face today!
After our picnic we played on the nature playscape.... so what is a nature playscape? A nature playscape utilizes the earth's elements and natural building materials to influence unstructured play in a secure and untraditional environment. The Dawe's playscape had a "kitchen" and "table" area, a wooden weaved mini maze, a stump tower, and more. The boys are making cake and pizza in the pictures below.
On the drive out, I did take the drive tour around, it is a beautiful place, we saw an eagle or hawk... I need to get better at bird identification!
We checked out the nature center and were able to experience their kid activity for the day which was all about poop! Yes, I said poop! The activities ended up leading us on a "treasure hunt" of sorts to find footprints and droppings.
A kids dream, right?
This park had a lot to offer and way more than we could see in our short afternoon. We look forward to making the trip again and seeing what else we can find and explore again soon.
