Lake Alma State Park
"Lake Alma is set in the heart of the unglaciated hill country of Jackson and Vinton counties, Ohio. These hills are a part of the Appalachian Highlands. Today, this region supports more than 70 percent of Ohio’s remaining woodlands on only one-third of the state’s land." from OhioDNR.
Isn't that crazy to think about? This area hosts 70% of Ohio's remaining Woodlands is this one small region.
Save the forests!
I can't imagine what our world will look like if we continue. I do like that there are so many green options, but the challenge now is the price. I am not a very ecologically friendly go-green person, but I am making changes and trying to be a better human. I would like to see my boys and if they have children, those children grow up in a world with clean air, cleaner oceans, and giant forests where they can walk around and explore.
One of the things that I really enjoy about hiking in the winter besides the lack of bugs and people, (Seriously, a lot less people,) is the crispness as you walk in the cold air. It just makes everything seem fresh and and the air so clean.
What do you do on your winter hikes? Give us here at #guentheradventures some fresh ideas!
On this trip to Lake Alma, we were prepared for the cold. We were not prepared for the wind. We were as far as layers go, but it was cold. We were able to try and identify some tracks in the snow and make a snow angel or two along the way. Making snow angels or snow frogs is one of our favorite snow activities. Is it spring yet?
Marcus and I have discussed trekking poles (hiking poles) for a long time and he has agreed to give you some feedback on the brand and style that he has - Cascades Mountain Trekking Poles.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Review: I really like my hiking poles, they help provide stability especially going downhill or when it is slippery. One of the features that I love and hate is the fact that they are retractable for height. It is really convenient, but they do sometimes when you put a lot of pressure on them slowly retract. I tightened the screw so hopefully that will help with this issue.

Below is one of my favorite pictures that I have taken, the sunset was just so beautiful where we were that day. We spend all day at this park and would love to go back and explore more.
