What happened to the rest of 2022... (Part 1)
Well, like all good parents the middle child (or in this case) the year 2022 was put on the back burner.
I do love writing this blog. Not only do I enjoy writing it for me, but I enjoy being able to look back on these books and blogs that I create and see how much my children have grown. All of the things they have learned and experienced. Therefore, I am going to do a 5 part series of blog posts that cover the rest of 2022 the BIG memories. The first and foremost BIGGEST of the BIG memories is that this was the year that we purchased our first camper. And as they say... the rest is history.
1998 Damon Hornet M-27H
It wasn't new, but it was new to us. Purchased and taken home... only to find out like all good home owners.
It had massive water damage in the master bedroom. So... it was torn out and rebuilt.
The boys loved being in the camper whether it had water damage or not. They were ready for their first adventure.
And, voila!
So, onto our adventures! Alum Creek State Park holds a special place in our heart because it was our first camping trip away from home. The goal for our family (and has been since 2020) is to visit ever state park in Ohio and hike at least half of the trails at each park. It is a hefty goal, but one that we are working on. This camper gave us the overnight stay to be able to visit farther away parks and the ability to stay at those parks longer, it was a win-win.
We added lights, it was very fancy. And we ate some mallows...
We biked around the campground and hiked a short trail.
Our very first picture was created (by E) and hung with pride on our tree.
The boys discovered the beach.. and we never are prepared for the beach. One day we will have swim suits when the weather is nice and we discover the beach. One of the MOST favorite activities that we do on 99.9% if not 100% of camping trips is playing games.
and telling "scary stories."
That is one of my favorites, I love their stories. #guentheradventures
