Camping Checklist - Cabin Style

Image
Our #guentheradventures usually are in a cabin, sometimes with and without a bathroom or running water. This list is a combination of several lists plus some of our own as we have packed again and again. This simple worksheet is editable and yours if you would like to use it. There are so many to find online, but again I think it really just depends on WHO is going camping, WHERE you are going, and WHAT time of year you are traveling due to weather. Either way, here you go! Happy "glamping!"

Buck Creek State Park

Buck Creek State Park is definitely a park that I have on my list to revisit. Being late December we can handle the cold, but the wind turned our faces red pretty quickly.

Cove Spring Park and Nature Preserve - Kentucky

Image
Cove Spring Park and Nature Preserve ( official tourist spot ) was a stop while we were driving around Kentucky. So, while we originally thought this was a State Park... which it is not officially. It ended up being our first park we got to experience a waterfall!! Both of the boys LOVE water, anything to do with water, and we have made "waterfalls" before, but to see one is a different experience.   Here is a few ideas for waterfall crafts at home if you have these laying around or go make a short run to the dollar store or target. You need materials like duct tape or drill, water bottles, and scissors or a utility knife or box cutter. 1. Water Bottle Waterfall 2. Bamboo Waterfall   (This one probably requires a trip to a store!) 3. Pool Noodle Waterfall The boys also made another discover on this park adventure - a NEW color caterpillar.  Earlier in a post we discovered and did a little research after finding a WHITE caterpillar. This one, however was ALL black! Here i...

South Bass Island State Park & Oak Point State Park

South Bass Island State Park & Oak Point State Park are STATE PARKS!

John Bryan State Park

Image
John Bryan State Park is on our list to revisit. First off, it is within a 10 minute distance from Young's Jersey Dairy , so yes. Second, it was a beautiful park. The only thing that I would do differently is take a different path. The path we chose (so we could see the bridge) was VERY rocky and thin going straight into the water.

Marblehead Lighthouse State Park

Image
Marblehead Lighthouse State Park is a STATE PARK! This fact was something I have recently discovered. I have been to this lighthouse dozens of times and I had no idea. It is one of the oldest lighthouse (or it might be the oldest) in operation on the Great Lakes. Growing up on Lake Erie, this was an area that we have traveled to every summer for vacation, and loved visiting. It is a nice low key area for vacation. You will find everything you need for a nice pleasant trip: 1. Beach AND pool 2. Numerous restaurants and bars         (My husband and I would highly recommend Dock's Beach House .) 3. Popcorn shop (come on it's vacation!) 4. Access to travel to the islands (Kelley's Island, South/Middle Bass Island, Catawaba Island) 5. Short drive to Cedar Point for your amusement But really... what else would you need for a nice low key vacation? According to OhioDNR , "Marblehead Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the Great Lakes, has guide...
