Adventuring Together - Greta Eskridge

Image
Tonight, I started and finished... reading “Adventuring Together” and it has really resonated with me. It is located on amazon here , I gave it 5 Stars ***** I’ve gone between the point of happy tears and super emotional to slapping my hand on the couch saying THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING!  This easy read has further inspired me and confirmed my thoughts deep in my heart that, "yes, this is what you want! This is what we want for the boys! This is what we want for our family! Yes, this is why you are doing this!"

And then...

The #52hikechallenge of 2021

Along with the #1000hourschallenge our family is also taking on the #52hikechallenge which is overlapping anyway. As of February 13, which is today we are right on track and feeling pretty good about how many hours we have been able to get outside and hike within the good ol' state of Ohio. Has it been easy? No, no not easy. Winter, children, and gloves have been an everlasting gobstopper of a problem that has proven to be… challenging. We’ve been battling exhaustion that follows poor eating habits and started a remedy... aka eating healthier. I mean, we do our best to be laid back but if I hear the words "Ahh my glove, mom help me!" One more time, it could break me. Now, an update to the gloves shenanigans mommy ended up spending way more than I ever thought I would spend on gloves and they have been 100% worth it. They stay on and no amount of snowball, snow-angels, sledding and falling in snow took these gloves off the hands of babes.  Highly *5 star* recommend these

Hocking Hills - the Itinerary & the Play by Ear

Hocking Hills State Park in Logan, Ohio is an extraordinarily popular spot for people to travel and spend weekends. There is something for everyone and you could research it forever with all of the numerous options available. We are participating in the #1000hoursoutside challenge, which boils down to spending more time outside with your family, exploring and adventuring as E would say. Check it out   here , it is  "The entire purpose of 1000 Hours Outside is to attempt to match nature time with screen time. If kids can consume media through screens 1200 hours a year on average then the time is there and at least some of it can and should be shifted towards a more productive and healthy outcome!"   In January we were able to enjoy and spend 21 hours outside. Our goal for February is to beat out January hours with a total of 22 hours outside! Just this weekend in Hocking Hills we were outside for around 16 hours so we are on our way to making our goal. If you have been readin

Everybody's Tree House - Mt. Airy Forest

Image
It started with a text from my brother in law. "Want to bring the kids and play outside?" Our answer, "Yes!" A few hours later another text pops in, "Want to go see a treehouse?" Our answer, "Um, who would say no to that? Yes!" This is how we learned of this little gem in the middle of a city. Mt. Healthy part of Cincinnati includes a forest of actually bigger than I would have guessed for a city- about 1,459 acres! Everybody's Tree House - Mt. Airy Forest is, " Accessible from Mt. Airy and Westwood, Mt. Airy Forest’s includes miles of hiking trails, bridle trails (located off Diehl Road) for horseback riders, and multi-use mountain biking trail. Mt. Airy has Ohio’s only wheelchair accessible public treehouse, an enclosed dog park and disc golf. Or just come for a picnic we have tables, charcoal grills and swing sets waiting for you.
